Step-Dance Performances and Leading Step-Dance Workshops at Cabourne Folk and Blues Festival http://www.c-fab.co.uk/

PERCUSSIVE STEP DANCE (“Appalachian Clogging”) WORKSHOPS

C-Fab – Sunday 25th May – High Noon to Three

12.00 noon: Live Performance: Riverdance meets The Hillbillies!

An intoduction to Applachian music and dance from The Bootleggers Display team and their string band – The Lootbeggers.

12.15 – 1.30: Workshop One: Beginners

All ages welcome; a chance to try this infectious and fun style of percussive American folk dance to live bluegrass and old time music. We start with a warm-up and the basic steps, then move on to couple and group choreography to get the blood pumping. We guarantee you will be dancing a simple routine to fast fiddle music in one hour!

1.30 – 1.45: Live Performance: Celtic Rhymths & Foot-tapping Fun!

More tunes, dances & songs from Bootleggers & Lootbeggers

1.45- 3.00: Workshop Two: Improvers

If you got the hang of the clogging steps in the beginners workshop – stay on and try some more. Also suitable for anyone with step dance experience who wants to try this style and have some fun.

What do you need to bring?

Percussive step dancing relies on using your heels and toes to produce the rhymths that accompany the fiddles, banjos, guitars and mandolins – so it’s not easy to do with rubber soled or flat trainers or sandals. If you have some hard soled shoes or boots with a small heel – that’s ideal. A sense of humour also helps!

The Bootleggers performed a dance display at an evening event at the Rugby Club on TUESDAY 10th Dec. The event was a ‘gig’ by a group of disabled young people called ‘The Outsiders’ who perform as a rock band – with support from local musicians.

Wednesday 13th Nov 2013

The Bootleggers had great time at the AVID anniversary 'do' in Epworth Imperial Hall. With the 'Lootbeggers' musicians swelling their ranks, the AVID 'scratch' band almost became of orchestral proportions! All The Bootleggers dancers joined in the ceilidh and gave a dance display at the interval to much acclaim. Such fun!

Epworth Festival of the Plough

Sunday 15th Sept 2013

We once again perform on the "Market Square" along with Grimsby Morris, Clarty Sough and Pierrot

http://www.festivaloftheplough.co.uk/Home.html

"Starting as usual at around 11:30 on the “Market Square”, Pierrot will get the entertainment ball rolling with their unique style of folk music - look out for their unusual instruments.

Following on, the Bootleggers Appalachian Dancers will entertain you with their incredibly energetic dance routines - I’m out of breath just thinking about them!

Clarty Sough folk singers come on at 12:30.  they tell me their name, roughly translated, means blocked drain - probably conjured up after a few beers!

Next are the Grimsby Morris Men, a firm favourite with young and old alike.

Special attraction this year are the massed ranks of the Scunthorpe and District Pipe band.

Just in case you manage to miss any of the acts they all perform again, in the same order, starting at 13:30."
